Double Glazed - Escape Windows

Our double-glazed version of the escape window offers a 20mm toughened unit, as opposed to the 4mm toughed pane of the s8ingle-glazed version.

Channelglaze's bespoke escape windows or egress windows must satisfy certain criteria for inclusion on your narrowboat. Please contact your boat builder or surveyor for advice on window opening sizes for escape purposes. Channelglaze has made a large range of bespoke escape windows throughout the years and can offer both top- and bottom-hinged full pane openers in a number of shape and frame options.

The escape window utilises a fixed aluminium frame, an outward opening aluminium frame and two extremely robust hinge parts to ensure that the window is hard-wearing. There is no need for drainage on these types of window, since the fixed frame does not utilise the drainage channel. Around the perimeter of the entire opening frame on the flange of the window is a marine adhesive foam tape, which acts as a seal and draft excluder when the window is closed. The toughened unit is fixed into the channel of the opening frame, meaning it can be held in place by its aluminium slide stay arms and quickly undone for ease of exit.

Important Notes: All Channelglaze Ltd windows are made to measure to fit your preferred aperture, therefore please allow time for the manufacture of your windows.
All double glazed windows are treated with ClearShield Glass treatment (please see glazing options for more information), giving the glass a non-stick finish. Easy for cleaning and also helps prevent staining.

Our quality double glazed windows also help to give sound insulation, particularly beneficial when moorings are close to railways lines, motorways or airports.

Please note: We work to the finished internal frame size (aperture) and anticipate that there has already been an allowance made for clearance. Please see our Frame options for guidance on clearances.

Our windows are drilled and countersunk ready for fitting with No. 6 screws. If fitting with pop rivets, frames can be drilled without countersink. Please note: fitting materials are not included with this window unless requested.

As standard these single glazed windows will comply with Category D of the RCD, please note that we can manufacture to Cat C. Price on application.
